Setting Up Visual Studio

Learn how to get your computer ready for Windows Developer Program for IoT.

To install Windows 10 and Visual Studio 2015 Preview on your computer

Follow these instructions to set up your machine with Windows 10 Preview and Visual Studio 2015 Preview

  1. Install the Windows Developer Preview from the BUILD - Windows Client - Dev Preview - EN (ISO) folder.
  2. Check for updates by running Windows Update.
  3. Install Visual Studio Ultimate 2015 CTP from the TOOLS - Windows Client - Dev Preview folder.
  4. Install the Visual Studio Tools for Windows vNext from the TOOLS - Windows Client - Dev Preview folder.
  5. Install the MSI file WindowDeveloperProgramForIoT.msi (this will install project templates and utilities specific to Athens).

Also, you will need to install the ADK and copy the Athens image:

  1. Install the Windows 10 Assessment and Deployment Kit (ADK), included in the zip file with this documentation.
  2. Make a local copy of the Athens image (look for the Flash.ffu file).

Now you can setup your MinnowBoard Max.
